I have the electrical manuals for the PC Turn 50 in English. If you are in the US, I've had very good luck with just asking EMCO Worldwide for manuals. The mill can be updated to take an ethernet card from from Emco to cure some of this and with updated Emco software can then be used without conversion. Might be worth looking into. I will say tooling up a PC Mill 50/55 without any tool holders gets expensive at around $100 a pop from Maritool. This machine does not use a drawbar.

Re: Conversion to LINUX CNC EMCO pc mill 50. It might be better to use a scope if one is available. I would expect the system to fault out if a stepper is disconnected. That would be normal for a higher end factory built machine with proper safety's and fault monitoring, and that ENCO is a high end machine.

The ISA cards are different for the PC Turn 50 - RS485 - and PC Turn 55 - RS422. These cards are not standard cards which can be purchased off the internet, they are the specific Emco versions using the RS485/RS422 protocols. Both Emco cards require a computer running Windows 95 or Win98. That is the easy bit!

This is done due to the turret having to reverse in order to lock which will place the turret behind the tool counter. Once the turret starts moving the control will skip the first count it sees. If the parameter is set to 0, it will default to 2.5 seconds.

EMCO MADE up machines in batches. If you don't have the MSD disk then EMCO will give you a generic one. You don't need the console to run the machine as in the manual it shows a standard keyboard with the key strokes labeled to run it. The console was a $1,700. option.

Emco PC Turn 55 retrofit was created by The Feral Engineer. Got myself a new toy last week. Picked up an Emco pc turn 55 with 8 position turret for 425 bucks. No controller, so swapped the ac95 board with a mesa 7i76ed, interfaced with the 3 phasen sm karte with an idc16 ribbon cable breakout board and got the motors to move pretty easily.
